Located in eastern Lancaster county Pennsylvania. Gordonville
Fire and
Ambulance is well know in the area for their service to the
surrounding community
with EMS and Fire service.
Our Fire department consists of three pieces of apparatus all
outfitted
with cabs to carry extra manpower. One of the challenges of the
department is
to have drivers on hand to drive the equipment. Since a large
percentage of
the department is run by the Amish community, often times our first
truck will
leave the station with 5-6 men on board, as soon as the first driver
arrives.
Our ambulance organization consists of two ambulances. Scheduled
crew members
staff our first ambulance 24-7. Our second ambulance is a backup
ambulance and
is available for calls nights and weekends.
Volunteers is what keeps our organization going. Local businesses
allow member
to respond to calls during working hours. Part time paid staff fill
in some
day time shifts. A number of our volunteers today are second and
third generation
members of our department.
Profits from our spring and fall sale and revenue from our Ambulance
allows our
department to purchase and operate our equipment without a annual
fund drive.
As volunteers we are always looking for others
to share the load.
